Holiday 2015 Unselfie Orders Are Here!

Hello all!
I know that it's not even Halloween yet (the most wonderful time of the year in my house) BUT I wanted to put this announcement up for the 2nd most wonderful time of the year, Christmas! Yup, the winter holidays will be here before we know it and definitely before we are ready for them! In order to give myself a bit more breathing room this year, I will only be taking Holiday orders for Unselfies until Monday, December 7th. This will ensure that you receive your order by December 25th. So if you would like to purchase a great gift for someone special this year go right ahead, the shop is open!

Thanks again for your support!

Illustration for Shofuso Japanese House and Garden

I am excited to finally share this illustration that I did for Shofuso Japanese House and Garden in Philadelphia! I was asked to create an illustration to go on the invitation to their premier fund raising event, the Otsukimi Moonviewing Party. The invitation is a collaboration with Philadelphia based branding and design agency, Primer. For the illustration, Shofuso wanted to depict a night time scene of the Japanese house and surrounding garden with pond reflecting the rising full moon.

Shofuso Japanese House and Garden is a traditional-style Japanese house and nationally-ranked garden in West Fairmount Park that reflects the history of Japanese culture in Philadelphia, from the 1876 Centennial Exposition.  Shofuso hosts over 30,000 visitors each year from more than 20 different countries. You can find out more about the moon viewing party as well as how to visit and support Shofuso here.

Portrait of Chelsea Clinton for Chicago Tribune Printers Row Journal

Here is a portrait of Chelsea Clinton that I did for this week's Chicago Tribune Printers Row Journal. She has penned a book titled " It's Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired and Get Going!". The book, for young readers, discusses facts, charts, photographs and stories that give a deeper understanding of the world around us and how anyone can make a difference. It includes stories about young people who have made real changes big and small—in their families, communities, our country and across the world.

"The Patient is not Always Right" - cover illustration for Washington Business Journal.

I'm excited to share with you the cover illustration that I did for this week's Washington Business Journal. The article, "The Patient is Not Always Right", written by Tina Reed, is about people writing negative online reviews about service and medical care that they have received.

They wanted me to show a patient in bed writing a bad review while showing how displeased that they are. One of my strengths in illustration is capturing facial emotion and so I thought that the super "thumbs down, eye-rolling stink face" would drive the point home. I am really happy with the way that this turned out and think that it makes a really strong cover story illustration. Many thanks to Jamey at WBJ for the art direction. Below, you can see the illustration and the layout. Enjoy!
