Well, we are now into November and daylight savings time ended yesterday so the season of indulgence is drawing nigh! Here's a fun piece that I did for Philly Mag to accompany the article, "10 Commandments for a Healthy Holiday Season", by Adjua Fisher. So celebrate, have that cheesecake...but don't forget the cardio! As always, a big shout out to Alyse for the Art Direction!
Here's a fun illustration that I did for the August issue of Philadelphia Magazine. The article is called "We have Reached the Peak of Self-Care" and it's about how we throw the term "Self-Care" around all of the time these days and how it has become a huge industry. (Dollar signs)

Relaxing poolside?
You know when you just want to relax with your book by the water and sip your lemonade in peace? Well, this illustration is not it. This is for Main Line Today's June "End of the Line" column, written by Katie Kohler . The article is called "Access Follywood" and it's about all of the annoying young "celebrities" at your local pool. The cast of characters include everyone from aquatic quarterbacks, "The Mannings", posing and pouting preteen "Kardashians" , the roughhousing jack-assery of the "Bam Margeras" and everyone else doing everything disruptive in between. Fisticuffs!
I was asked by Columbus Monthly to illustrate an article for their May issue titled, "The Brawling Broadcaster", which is about an incident that took place between sportscaster, Jeff Rimer and (before he was) baseball legend, Pete Rose, in 1984. Apparently, Rimer had said something negative on the air about the Montreal Expos (Rose's team at the time) playing season which led to a radio show argument that later escalated into a locker room tiff.
My task was to illustrate the described moment of the scuffle, with boxing-gloved teammates egging on Rose as he puts the much less imposing Jeff Rimer in a head lock. I'm not sure if I drew the event EXACTLY how it went down but it was fun to exaggerate and try and capture the moment. From what I read there was a public apology by Rose the next day and so everything ended up OK in the end. Special thanks to Betsy at Columbus Monthly for the art direction.

I recently had the opportunity to do this funny illustration for the April issue of Men's Health Magazine. Every month there is a column featuring exercises with how-to technical instructions accompanied by an illustration. This set of moves is called the "couch crusher" and you can do them while you are watching TV. Fear not if you have become one with your sofa while binge-watching Star Trek during the cold winter months - you can get ripped and never miss an episode! Just make sure that you don't freak out the dog break any furniture while your at it ;)
