Don't talk to the person next to you.

We've all experienced it. That moment when you are sitting on the subway or maybe the train, bus or plane and someone sits next to you. Do you play it nice? Do you look up from your book or whatever electronic device that is occupying your attention, smile a quick hello and dart your eyes back before that person encroaching on your personal space can engage you in conversation?

Or do you take the more rude route, avoid them all together, assume that your earbuds and lack of eye contact are preventative warning flags waving at them not to talk to you?

Either way, what happens if the person who sits down insists on talking to you?

Then what?

It's ALIVE!!!

Sorry that I haven't written an update lately, I have been swamped with freelance and creating avatar portraits for The Unselfie Project. Have a look at the gallery, IT'S ALIVE! Every day (sometimes every few days) I post new avatars to the gallery.

It's fun to open up my emails every day and see the photos that people send. It's kind of like unwrapping a present! So many great faces! So far, the guys are sending in more photos than the girls. I've had some power ups levels which is totally awesome, as well as some pet orders that I have yet to get to.

I have been creating folders for people as they send in their photos, with a number and I'm trying to do them as they come in. It's a lot of fun for me to create the illustrations, put them up and watch the gallery grow. Enjoy!

Illustrated and Animated Commercial Promo for Citadel!

I'm so excited to share this with you!

Last month, I was contacted by one of my great clients, Citadel FCU, to work with them on a new TV promo advertising their free checking.  This is the second time I have had the opportunity to illustrate a TV spot for them and it's really awesome to see the final result.

I provided the art director with my static illustrations, in turn, the animation house worked their magic to make it all happen. I love the way the lights get brighter, the water moves up to the beach and the little added sparkle in the woman's eye. Did you catch that? :)

My Alter Egos and other fun stuff.

The Unselfie Project on Kickstarter has been a huge success and I am so grateful for all of the support that I've gotten from friends, family, peers and my backers around the world. It has gotten a lot of good press in the past few weeks and I was just interviewed for the Huffington Post style section. Exciting stuff!

There are 10 days left in the Kickstarter campaign, and I am so pumped thinking about the next steps. When the campaign is over the shopping cart here will go live and you will be able to start ordering Unselfies directly.  And The Unselfie Project online gallery will also go live. I think that watching it grow is going to be really special.

I was also recently approached by online art commission retailer, Art Corgi to offer Unselfies through their shop as well. So that's really cool - check them out! There is some really nice work offered on their site.

Last but not least, enjoy all of my sample personal Unselfies as well as my alter ego Unselfies above. I think my favorite is definitely me with a mustache. I think I'm pretty handsome with a lumberjack beard as well :) It's fun to look at all of them together and it kind of gives you an idea of what the online gallery might look like but man, I am SO TIRED of drawing myself!. I'd rather be drawing you!

The Unselfie Project, internationally taking over the selfie!

It's been about a week and a half since The Unselfie Project on Kickstarter launched and it is gaining momentum. Not only has it caught the attention of Philadelphia tech blog, Geekadelphia and weekly newspaper, The City Paper, I was interviewed about it for Italian art and design blog, L'identità aumentata. The Unselfie Project surpassed it's goal in the first six days of it's launch!

As pledges come in, I am seeing that not only are they coming from backers all over the United States but the rest of the world: Austria, France, Netherlands, Qatar, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, Turkey, Norway, Portugal, Italy, Denmark, Australia, Latvia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, UK, Germany, Belgium...to name a few. The Unselfie Project has gone global! This is super exciting stuff and I am absolutely amazed about the response and attention that the project is getting.

I want to thank everyone, all over the world for their support of this endeavor. Thank you for spreading the word and backing The Unselfie Project. It is absolutely  energizing and motivating for me and I am so proud of the success that is has garnered so far. There are 18 days left of the campaign. I'm excited to see how far and wide it reaches and am thrilled to begin drawing. The creative energy is flowing! Keep spreading the word and the Unselfie love.
